The songs are centered around the vocals with a warm bed of keys, upright bass and drums to keep the groove rolling. Haunting, dreamy and fluid, the ensemble’s sound is timeless without being a throwback. Violin and tenor sax weave in threads of old-timey, neoclassical and bebop which inevitably push at the boundaries of many genres. With their first EP Holy Waters released in 2017 and now their recent full length album Train, GMG is beginning to unfurl in Portland’s blossoming music scene.
